Rocky Mountaineer GoldLeaf Service Overview
Discover what makes Rocky Mountaineer’s GoldLeaf Service the pinnacle of luxury train travel—from glass-domed coaches to fine dining—as we take you inside the full experience.
Rocky Mountaineer’s GoldLeaf Service is the most luxurious way to experience the Canadian Rockies by rail. Guests enjoy panoramic views from a bi-level glass-domed coach, gourmet meals in a dedicated dining room, and attentive service from a larger team of hosts. All meals, snacks, and beverages—including premium wines and cocktails—are included, making GoldLeaf a first-class journey through world-class scenery.
What’s Included in GoldLeaf Service
GoldLeaf is fully all-inclusive, combining comfort, dining, and service for a seamless travel experience:
Panoramic Dome Seating: Reserved reclining seats on the upper level of a bi-level glass-dome coach, offering sweeping views and generous legroom. Some seats feature temperature controls for added comfort.
Gourmet Dining: Two multi-course meals (breakfast and lunch) are freshly prepared by onboard chefs and served in the lower-level dining room, featuring local ingredients like Alberta beef and BC salmon.
Drinks & Snacks: Unlimited beverages—coffee, tea, wine, craft beer, and signature cocktails—plus gourmet snacks served between meals.
Attentive Hosts: Up to four hosts per coach provide personalized service, share stories about the scenery, and help spot wildlife along the way.
Luggage Service: Large luggage is checked and delivered to your hotel at each overnight stop. You only carry a day bag on board.
Outdoor Viewing Platform: A spacious, exclusive open-air platform on the lower level offers fresh air and unobstructed photo opportunities—much larger than what’s available in SilverLeaf.
GoldLeaf Coach Configuration and Seating
One of the biggest distinctions of GoldLeaf is the coach design. GoldLeaf coaches are bi-level dome cars, meaning they have two levels and stand taller than the single-level SilverLeaf cars. The upper level is the seating area under a full glass dome, while the lower level includes the dining room and an outdoor platform.
Upper Level (Seating):
The upper deck of a GoldLeaf car features comfortable, reclining seats arranged stadium-style, providing excellent sightlines and panoramic glass-dome windows that stretch up to the ceiling. Every seat has expansive views, ample legroom, fold-down tray tables, and adjustable heating for added comfort. Because the dome sits higher off the tracks, passengers enjoy unique vantage points above the treeline, often allowing views of wildlife or river gorges that might be missed at ground level. GoldLeaf coaches typically carry fewer passengers per car than SilverLeaf, contributing to a spacious and relaxed atmosphere.
Lower Level (Dining & Amenities):
Accessed via a spiral staircase or elevator for passengers with mobility needs, the lower level hosts a dedicated dining room with booth-style tables elegantly set with white linen and real china, creating a restaurant-like environment. Large picture windows ensure scenic views during meals. This level also includes the galley, where chefs freshly prepare gourmet meals, two washroom facilities, and the entrance to the outdoor viewing platform at the rear of the coach.
The outdoor viewing platform is exclusive to GoldLeaf passengers and is significantly larger than SilverLeaf’s outdoor area. It comfortably accommodates multiple guests, offering an open-air space ideal for close-up views and photography without window glare. Passengers should consider bringing a jacket, as the outdoor breeze can be brisk.
Overall, the GoldLeaf coach configuration emphasizes both comfort and sightseeing, allowing passengers to relax in luxury seating upstairs with 360° views or stretch out downstairs for dining and open-air experiences. This unique bi-level design significantly enhances the GoldLeaf experience.
