Tour Itinerary: 9 Day Calgary to Vancouver through the Rockies
Westbound - Calgary to Vancouver
Day 1: Calgary
Arrive in Calgary and spend time exploring this cosmopolitan city on your own. That could be going to the top of the Calgary Tower, exploring Prince’s Island Park or much more. Overnight in Calgary.
Day 2: Calgary to Banff Motorcoach Transfer
Depart Calgary this morning for a full-day transfer concluding in Banff. Journey to Banff, where you will enjoy a spectacular boat cruise on Lake Minnewanka. Continue on to a sightseeing tour including Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Banff Gondola included. Your tour ends on arrival in Banff late this afternoon. Overnight in Banff.
Day 3: Free day in Banff
Enjoy the day with free time to relax or book your own activities at your leisure. Banff has activities for all, from relaxing in the Banff hot springs and exploring the bustling town, to outdoor wildlife adventures. Overnight in Banff.
Day 4: Banff to Jasper
Continue your journey from Banff to Jasper on a sightseeing tour of Banff and Jasper National Parks via the Icefields Parkway. Lake Louise, Bow Lake, the Columbia Icefield, Glacier Skywalk, and Athabasca Falls are among some of the day’s highlights. The Columbia Icefield is one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle and one of the most accessible icefields in North America. Here you will ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn about its geological features. Lunch is provided at the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre. You will arrive in Jasper late afternoon. Overnight in Jasper. [L].
Day 5: Jasper
Enjoy the day with free time to relax or book your own activities at your leisure. The resort town of Jasper and the surrounding national park offer various activities from relaxation to adventure. Overnight in Jasper.
Day 6: Jasper to Kamloops Rocky Mountaineer Train
Travel onboard Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper in the Canadian Rockies to Kamloops, in the heart of the British Columbia Interior. As you journey west and south, you will be surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and by the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Today’s highlights include the climb over the Yellowhead Pass, Pyramid Falls, Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet), the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, and the journey along the North Thompson River as you approach Kamloops. Day 7: Kamloops to Vancouver Rocky Mountaineer Train
Your journey continues west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. On today’s journey, you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the B.C. Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Cascade and Coast Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your rail journey ends on arrival in Vancouver this evening. How is the tour price calculated?
Your tour includes 3 main components: Hotel accommodation, a Rocky Mountaineer Rail trip, and a Deluxe motorcoach tour. Tour cost is based on the choice of hotel stay (standard or deluxe), rail service (GoldLeaf or SilverLeaf), and room occupancy (Single, Double, Triple, or Quad). Published rates are per person in Canadian dollars before tax.
How early should we book?
Pent-up demand for Canadian vacations has been extremely high, and we highly recommend that you book your seats as early as possible
Is there space for wheelchairs of mobility aids?
We welcome guests of all mobility levels on our tours. While our motorcoaches are not equipped with wheelchair lifts, we can usually accommodate foldable wheelchairs or mobility aids that can be safely stored in the luggage compartment. If you or a companion use a mobility device, please let us know in advance — our team will do their best to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Are gratuities included in the tour package cost?
Gratuities are not included in the prices, except for onboard the Rocky Mountaineer. It is customary to tip for excellent service in Canada.
How many hours will the coach travel each day?
Each travel day is a scenic experience, not just a transfer. As we make our way from Calgary to Banff and Jasper, you’ll enjoy incredible views, short rest stops, and chances to photograph some of Canada’s most stunning landscapes.
